SUMMIT, NJ - Senior captain Sylvie Goudreau scored.a game- and career-high 16 points as the Summit High School Girls Varsity Basketball Team began their 2019-20 season with a 45-22 victory over Scotch Plains-Fanwood 45-22 at the Main Gym.

Goudreau added six rebounds and three steals to her game résumé. The Maroon and White used a strong second-half performance to put the contest in the icebox. The Hilltoppers scored as many points -- 17 -- in the third quarter as they did in the entire first half, 'winning' the final 16 minutes 28-11.

Junior Sarah Maldonado (8 points, 4 rebounds) and sophomores Olivia Lawlor (8 points, six rebounds) and Jessica Penner (2 points, 7 rebounds) had noteworthy performances in the triumph.

Summit (1-0) stays home for the holidays, next facing Elizabeth December 23 at the Main Gym. Tip-off is set for 12 p.m.
