SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ - Just eight matches into his inaugural season as Head Coach of the Summit High School Varsity Soccer Team, Ben Stuart has notched his first signature win.

Senior striker Owen Healy scored in the 75th minute, slotting home a rebound of classmate's Nathan Todorov's shot, and the Hilltoppers won at state-ranked Scotch Plains-Fanwood, 2-1. The triumph is a massive bounce-back win after a disappointing 3-nil defeat at Westfield 48-hours prior, and elevates Summit's record to 5-2-1 on the season.

The Maroon and White set the tone early and had the majority of the possession and chances in the first half. Sophomore Ethan Harris gave The 'Top a 1-nil lead in the 23rd minute, his volley finding the back of the net from the right side outside the box. The goal was set up by a delightful 'dummy' from Dan Farberov. Running in from the left side, the freshman's deception faked out the Raiders' goalkeeper who thought Farberov was going to get a touch on the ball.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood came out strong in the second half and scored in the 65th minute on a low cross that somehow squeezed its way into the Summit goal. Hilltopper 'keeper and senior captain Jake Maslin held the fort the rest of the way -- making eight saves total on the afternoon -- and, 10 minutes later, Healy's heroics arrived.

Summit returns home to next face Franklin Township September 23 at Tatlock Park. The match is set to kick-off at 4 p.m.
