COLD SPRING HARBOR, NY - Surrendering two separate five-goal runs, the Summit High School Girls Varsity Lacrosse Team dropped a 10-5 decision to Garden City, NY, High School, which is currently ranked inside the nation's Top 20 squads.

Senior captain Helen Louise Johnson and junior Katia Carnevale each had two goals for the Hilltoppers, with senior captain Amy Martino playing well between the pipes and getting credited with 10 saves.

Jenn Medjid did the offensive damage for the Trojans with five goals, and goalie Emily Gaven came up big in goal with 12 stops.

Before the first half was even halfway complete Summit trailed 5-0, but the Hilltoppers punched back with three straight scores from juniors Julia Szynal, Anna Griffith and Carnevale. The second half, however, opened the same way as the previous 25 minutes and the subsequent 10-3 hole was simply too much for the girls from the 07901 to overcome.

Summit, now 7-2 on the season, next travels to Mountain Lakes, also holders of a 7-2 record, on April 23. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
