CRANFORD, NJ - Sophomore Catherine Singow led the Summit High School Varsity Gymnastics Team to a third place finish at the Cougar Invitational at Cranford High School. One of eight teams competing, the Hilltoppers' team scored of 104.45 was its second-highest of the season.
Singow finished fourth All-Around with a 35.95, took second place on Bars (8.85), third on Beam (9.0), and fourth on Floor Exercise (9.45). Freshman Emma Burke delivered a big routine on Floor and finished third with a 9.475, which set a new school record. Junior Sofia Confalonieri finished ninth on Bars with an 8.45.
Other Hilltoppers helping Summit to the podium spot were sophomore Isabel Claus (8.7 on Vault), sophomore Quinn Meyer (8.6 on Vault), sophomore Emma Claus (7.9 on Bars and 8.85 on Floor), senior Caroline Griffith (8.5 on Beam), sophomore Margaret Griffith (8.0 on Beam). Freshman Mia Murdock and sophomore Charlotte Girouard were also in the lineup for Summit.
Cranford was the overall winner with a 108.725, topping runner-up Westfield which finished with a team total of 106.05.
Summit is in action next at Westfield October 8 starting at 4:30 p.m.
