SPARTA, NJ - On a day when Mother Nature continued her brief, two-day foray into summer, the Summit High School Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team made the sojourn northwest to Sparta, where the Hilltoppers continued to demonstrate that, like the weather on the day, they are pretty darn hot.
Blazing out to a 7-0 first quarter lead, the Maroon and White marched to another impressive victory -- improving to 5-0 on the season -- by defeating the Spartans, 15-6. Junior attack Skyler Schluter had four goals, and senior captain Harry Kilkowski had a Hat Trick and added three assists to pace Summit's offense. Senior captain Will Vitton had 13 saves in goal.
In its season-opening quintet of conquests, Summit has outscored their opponents 65-12.
Stelios Kroudis scored three times and Jesse West added a pair of goals to lead Sparta. Former Hilltopper and current Spartan Ree McCall made 14 stops between the pipes. Up 10-1 at the half, the Hilltoppers and Spartans played an even 5-5 second 24 minutes.
Other Summit goals on the day were scored by seniors Tom Fischetti (2), Nick Thomson, Jack Browne, Eamon McTernan, along with junior Greg Moller (2), and freshman Luke Dinola.
Summit stays on the road, traveling to West Morris Central April 17 for a rare 6 p.m. start.
