ROSELLE, NJ - The Summit Boys Varsity and JV Cross Country Teams, running in the rain and mud, each finished in second place at the Union County Championships at Warinanco Park. Despite the conditions, nearly every boy on the squad who raced -- 29 in sum -- ran a personal best.

Finishing behind Westfield and ahead of Union Catholic, the Varsity -- led by Matt Fridel, Warren Hansen, Brendan Driscoll, Matt Timoney, Jacob Pantoya, Tim Buchan, and Luke Mauriello -- earned its best program finish since winning the County title in 2014.

The JV squad also took second place overall. The teams top seven finishers in the race were Teddy Robertson, Daniel Naiman, Jackson Levine, John Cho, Marek MuzykaAshton Flamme, and Riley Semler.

The freshmen finished third overall in the County, though freshmen Levine, Cho, and Muzyka, contributed to the JV's success on the day rather than running in their age group.
