CLARK, NJ - The Summit High School Boys Varsity Basketball Team saw its 18-game winning streak and Union County Tournament (UCT) journey both come to an end, as the seventh-seeded Hilltoppers fell to third-seeded Roselle Catholic 75-57 at AL Joihnson High School.

The defeat, which left Summit with a record of 21-3, was the Maroon and White's first since January 3 and ended an unblemished run that stretched for 50 days.

A trio of Lions combined for 59 points: Clifford Omoyuri led all scorers with 23 points, with Corey Floyd, Jr. and Niels Lane adding 20 and 16 points respectively. Lane had a dynamic Triple-Double, also contributing 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

Senior captains Will Hellings, who had an 18-point and 10-rebound Double-Double, and Eric Baier, with 18 points and 5 rebounds, paced Summit. Senior Charles Lord sank three rainbows from beyond the arc and added nine points.

In their two previous losses this season, the Hilltoppers had allowed an average of 49 points, but the normally stingy Summit defense was -- on this night -- no match for the high-octane Lions offense. Roselle Catholic led 19-13 after the opening eight minutes and by 10, at 38-28, entering the halftime break.

The Lions tacked on 20 more points in the third and led by 15 heading to the final quarter, which proved much too steep a slope for the Hilltoppers to climb.

Summit will next travel to face DePaul Catholic February 25. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
