SUMMIT, NJ - The Summit High School Basketball program honored its seniors, and then three of its Class of 2020 team members went out and scored all but two of the team's points versus Caldwell at the Main Gym.

Captain Eric Baier (19 points and 5 rebounds), captain Will Hellings (12 and 5) and Jalen Russell (10 and 6) collectively scored 41 points and grabbed 16 'boards as the Hiltoppers defeated the Chiefs 43-31 at the Main Gym. The victory, Summit's 20th of the season against just two losses, extends the squad's winning streak to 17 games in-a-row heading into a tough Union County Tournament second-round matchup versus Rahway February 19.

Hank Morgan led Caldwell with 13 points.

That the win streak would continue was in some degree of peril as the Maroon and White trailed at the half by three and was behind 27-25 heading to the fourth quarter but, in that final frame, Summit -- showing a dramatically heightened level of energy and sense of urgency -- erupted for 18 points while holding the visitors to just 4 and won going away.

Baier and Russell both splashed big threes and Baier added an equally large three-point play to key the spree while the Hilltopper 'D' -- led by the tenacity of senior captain Joe Lusardi -- helped put the 'off' in the Chiefs' offense.

Summit versus Rahway gets underway at 7 p.m. at the Main Gym.
