SUMMIT, NJ - After an indifferent start to the match that resulted in them trailing 1-nil, the Summit Boys Varsity Soccer Team got into gear, laced up their shooting boots and scored five straight goals, running out a eventually comfortable 5-2 win over New Providence at Tatlock Park.

The Union County Tournament win over the 12th-seeded Pioneers sends fifth-seeded Summit to the UCT quarterfinals, where the Maroon and White will travel to face number-four seed Union on October 13.

Owen Healey scored two goals, his first strike leveling the match in the opening half, and Jose Herrera-Rojas also fired a brace for Summit, now 6-6-2 on the season. Hilltopper captain Connor Little added a goal in the second half with goalkeepers Jake Maslin (5) and Jonathan Chaves (2) combining for seven stops.

The Hilltoppers bossed the final 60 minutes of the match, with Pioneer goalkeeper Miguel Garcia's strong, 16-save afternoon a key reason the scoreline was not more lopsided.

Each member of Summit's '4-H Club' -- consisting of captain Ryan Hecker, Gray Humphrey, Ethan Harris and Healey -- had an assist on the afternoon.

Prior to taking on Union October 13 at 12 p.m., Summit hits the road to face Elizabeth October 11 at 4 p.m.
