SUMMIT, NJ - Given the fact that two Hilltop City-based teams comprised the matchup, it was a lock that one Summit team was going to leave Tisdall Hall with their Union County Tournament (UCT) hopes intact. Unfortunately for card-carrying members of Hilltopper Nation, that team will not be the Summit High School Girls Varsity Basketball Team.

Greta Criqui (19) and Paige Morton (17) combined for 36 points for Oak Knoll, and the Royals' defense held the Hilltoppers to 11 second-half points en route to a 45-33 victory. Summit, now 12-10 on the season, was led by junior captains Kiran McCormick, who had three 'triples' and scored 10 points, and Annabella Yorio, who added seven points.

The home team came out of the gate strong and led 13-5 after one quarter, but Summit pushed back with near-equal might in the second quarter and trailed just 25-22 at the break. Oak Knoll bumped their lead to 36-29 at the conclusion of the third, then held the Maroon and White to just four points in the final frame.

Summit is back on the court February 25 at Jonathan Dayton. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
