SUMMIT, NJ - The Hilltopper Girls Varsity Volleyball Team set some significant performance expectations this season -- including finishing at .500 or better, being in the mix for 'States qualification, and matching or bettering their 2018 divisional finish -- but the biggest goals for the young team were to contribute to the community at large with a couple of events that would be the teams ¨give back¨ goals for the season.
Recently, the Hilltoppers took on divisional rival Linden at home with the match also serving as a fundraiser for 'Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer' as the team wore gold shoelaces to commemorate the event and to raise awareness and funds for 'Childhood Cancer Awareness Month'.
The second ¨give back¨ event will be held on Wednesday, October 16, as the Hilltoppers take on Roselle Park on both the JV and Varsity Levels in the Main Gym, beginning at 4:15 p.m. with the JV match, and the freshman taking on Chatham in the Auxiliary gym at 4:15 p.m. as part of a 'Dig Pink' event benefiting the Sideout Foundation, an organization that raises funds for Stage IV Breast Cancer Research.
Admission is $5 -- with an admission plus 'Dig Pink' T-Shirt package available for $10 (while supplies last). Funds raised will be directed to the Sideout Foundation:
For those who wish to contribute but cannot be present at the game can visit the team´s fundraising website at giving.side-out.org/campaigns/15755#/. There, folks can donate to the help the Maroon and White reach its goal of raising $3,000 through a combination of direct contributions, T-Shirt and baked goods sales.
