SUMMIT, NJ - Summit Junior Baseball and Softball (SJBS) will host its annual 'Championship Day' festivities June 8 on Memorial Field, with first pitch set for 9:30 a.m.

'Championship Day', sponsored by the Salerno Duane Auto Group in Summit, officially marks the end of the baseball and softball seasons, with SJBS players finishing the regular season and moving into the play-offs.

Championship games will be played on the fields with food and other activities on the field as well. During the day, SJBS presents awards to players for sportsmanship, including the Detective Matthew Tarentino Sportsmanship Award, which is presented to 5th / 6th Grade baseball and softball players.

Established in 1971, Summit Junior Baseball and Softball is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization that annually fields more than 100 baseball and softball teams -- comprising approximately 1,500 children -- during the Spring, Summer and Fall seasons.
