NEWARK, NJ - As debuts go, it doesn't get much better than the first month of freshman Leah Rubinshteyn's Summit High School Girls Varsity Ice Hockey Team career.

Twenty-six goals and 13 assists for 39 points though 15 games.

Twenty of her goals -- and 10 assists -- came in December, an opening-month performance that was more than enough to get her on the radar of media throughout the Garden State. In fact, her feats were deemed -- by those very same media members -- worthy of selection as the girls' New Jersey Devils High School Hockey Player of the Month' for December.

Twice this season, Rubinshteyn has scored four goals in a game -- against Westfield on December 11 and versus Oak Knoll on January 6.

Along with the honor itself, Rubinshteyn will receive tickets to an upcoming Devils home game, a plaque presented by a Devils player, and dinner compliments of the Devils organization.

This is the 27th year the Devils have sponsored the 'High School Player of the Month' program.
