SUMMIT, NJ - Sophomore Olivia Lawlor and junior captain Annabella Yorio each netted a Double-Double -- combining for 35 points and 20 rebounds -- as the Summit High School Girls Varsity Basketball Team won its final tuneup before beginning the NJSIAA Tournament by defeating Madison 44-31 at the Main Gym.
Lawlor scored 18 points and snared 10 rebounds while Yorio contributed 17 points and also grabbed 10 'boards as the Hilltopers improved to 14-10 on the season.
Tess Callaghan had 13 points and Sadie Kim added eight to pace the Dodgers.
Summit's defense was impressive throughout, holding Madison to 15 first-half points while the home team took a seven-point lead. The game was close after three, with Summit ahead by five at 30-25, but the home team dropped 14 points in the final frame to pull away and claim victory.
The eighth-seeded Hilltoppers will now open NJSIAA State Tournament play on March 2, taking on ninth-seeded Orange at the Main Gym. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m.
