'SUMMIT, NJ - The City of Summit's Department of Community Programs will host an eclectic quartet of events on the Hilltop City's Village Green during the month of September.
The lineup will begin September 12 with a 'Screen on the Green' movie night sponsored by the Summit Police Athletic League featuring the movie Wonder, with a family dance party beginning at 7 p.m. Prior to the movie, a TryCAN documentary produced by Nishika Aggarwal will be shown. The documentary and movie will begin at dusk.
Next, on September 14, from 7 - 8 p.m., the Summit Free Public Library will host a concert featuring the Jewish folk music of the Odessa Klezmer Band. In the event of rain, the performance will be held September 15.
'Fiesta Latina', a celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, follows on September 18 at 6:30 p.m. De Tierra Caliente will perform traditional and modern Latin songs. The event will also feature food trucks with Hispanic cuisine.
Finally, 'Summit’s Battle of the Bands' will make its debut on September 26, from 12 - 5 p.m. The new event will see local talent invited to perform a 30-minute set. At the conclusion of the performances, the audience will vote for their favorite band, with the winning band invited to perform at a Department of Community Programs 2021 event.
