Elieen Wolfe's apple pie, made from Golden Delicious apples, was rated tops among 14 entries in The Summit Farmers Market's third annual 'Apple Pie Contest'. Wolfe's wonder edged the apple caramel crumb delight from Stephanie Lipkin, which earned second place, and the scrumptious cream cheese crust creation from Summit resident Samantha Lopuszynski, which took third spot.

Judges Nora Radest, Brad Finkel and Bob Conway had the challenge of rating all entries on their filling, appearance and crust. The three winning pie recipes can be found by visiting summitfarmersmarket.com.

The next scheduled 'Sunday Funday' activities will be 'Fall Family Photo Day' on Sunday, October 27 followed by the 'Pumpkin Bread / Muffin Contest' on Sunday, November 10. The market, open every Sunday -- from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. -- through November 24, is located in the Park & Shop Lot #2, at the corner of Deforest Avenue and Maple Street.
