Summit resident Quinn Butler accepts a Certificate of Recognition from Summit Mayor Nora Radest at the March 5 Summit Common Council meeting, during which time the Council's Members gave the 18-year-old Newark Academy senior a standing ovation.

Butler took the initiative to start a GoFundMe page to support Edward and Edwin Roman, 24-year-old twin brothers and co-workers of his at Village Trattoria. The Romans -- also Summit residents and graduates of Summit High School -- have both just undergone a serious heart surgery, a procedure during which they each received a left ventricular assist device (LVAD). This device acts as a mechanical pump for the heart that can effectively pump the body's blood.

The LVAD will serve as a 'bridge-to-transplant', as both Edwin and Edward are currently on the list for a heart transplant.
