The Hilltop City's fifth grade D.A.R.E. graduation ceremony in the Auditorium at Summit High School saw Mayor Nora Radest -- along with Summit Police Department Captain Andrew Bartolotti and D.A.R.E. Officer Keith Kwiatek -- pause to congratulate D.A.R.E. essay winners Mackenna Welsh (Washington School), Brooke Harvey (Franklin School), Brady O'Shea (Jefferson School), Sarah Welkis (Brayton School) and Lilah Brundage (Lincoln School).

D.A.R.E., which stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education, is centered on teaching students good decision-making skills in order to help them lead safe, healthy lives, empowering them to respect others and choosing to stay -- and remain -- free of violence, substance use and other dangerous behaviors.
