High Point Football Breaks Losing Streak with 28-21 Win Over Vernon

VERNON, NJ - The High Point varsity football team brought its 13-game losing streak to an end on Friday night with a 28-21 victory over Vernon.

After losing all 10 of its games in 2012, High Point began this season with three defeats before rallying from a 21-14 deficit against Vernon with two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

Brandon Carr threw two touchdown passes, including a 15-yard fourth-quarter strike to Tommy Hooker to bring High Point to within one, 21-20. Matt Musilli's second touchdown run of the game, from 2 yards away, gave High Point the lead. Carr followed with a two-point conversion pass to Tim O'Malley.

Musilli rushed for 120 yards on 18 carries and Carr was 15-for-26 for 165 yards through the air in the victory.

Vernon (0-4) scored on touchdown runs by Ken Artsma, Tim Van Lenten and Chris Pontus.
