UNION, NJ - An 88-year old Union woman was seriously injured Friday night after being struck by a car as she was attempting to cross Salem Road.
According to Union police, the accident occurred at about 5:45 p.m. in front of 1093 Salem Road near the Vauxhall Road intersection. A 1997 silver Lincoln Executive operated by 70-year old Richard Corritore, Jr. of Hillside was traveling north on Salem Road when his vehicle collided with 88-year old pedestrian Camelle Louis Charles of Union.
Charles suffered several injuries. Police say she was transported to University Hospital. Union Police implemented an alternate traffic pattern, detouring Salem Road for approximately two hours while the crash scene was processed.
