UNION, NJ - Steven Capsuto, author of Alternate Channels: Queer Images on 20th-Century TV, began collecting recordings of LGBTQ-themed radio and TV shows when he was a student in the 1980s.

By the time the 20th-anniversary edition of Alternate Channels came out this year, he had amassed thousands of such recordings, dating from the 1950s to 2020s. Capsuto will discuss how he got involved in this topic, will show rare video clips of LGBTQ portrayals from the past, and share some of his conclusions about their impact. Note: This return speaker is back due to popular demand.

The event, hosted by the Union Public Library, will be held on Thursday, July 9, at 11:00 a.m.
