UNION, NJ – An arrest has been made in the homicide of the Maplewood man found dead in the yard of a Union Township residence early Tuesday morning, according to a police source not authorized to discuss the case.

The suspect’s name has not been released, but he was arrested by the Union County Homicide Task Force in Union early Friday evening according to the source.

On Tuesday morning, police responded to a home on the 800 block of Salem Road and found the body of 25-year old Matthew Murrell in the yard.  He was pronounced dead a short while later.

A joint investigation involving the Union County Homicide Task Force, the Union Police Department and the Union County Sheriff’s Office Identification Unit took place.  Additional details about the suspect are not yet available.
