UNION, NJ - Students at Battle Hill Elementary School embraced and celebrated “No Name-Calling Week” last week.

No Name-Calling Week, January 15-19, is organized by kindergarten through grade 12 educators and students to end name calling and bullying in schools.   No Name-Calling Week was inspired by a middle grade novel entitled “The Misfits” by popular author James Howe in which a group of student organize a “No Name-Calling Day” at school.

As part of Battle Hill’s participation in the event, students from kindergarten through grade four participated in a Creative Expressions contest organized by school counselor, Ingrid Soares. Students were asked to create a unique art project through drawings, sculptures or writing depicting how they feel about name calling.
