UNION, NJ – The Battle Hill Elementary School staff will be hosting its third annual pasta dinner benefiting the memorial scholarships in memory of Jason Lopes and Crystal Scretchen.

Lopes and Scretchen passed away suddenly in the winter of 2014/2015.  Lopes, a former Battle Hill student, was a junior at Union High School when he died.  Scretchen was a long time teacher assistant at Battle Hill before her passing.

"Our pasta dinner is such a special night for the families of Miss Crystal and Jason,” said Battle Hill Special Education teacher Marcy Musarra.  “It is heartwarming to see the Battle Hill School community come together to reflect and have fun.  Many staff members pitch in to make the night a success."
The annual event benefits graduating Union High School seniors.  For pasta night, the Battle Hill cafeteria is transformed into an Italian café, with teachers cooking and serving the meal.  Desserts are homemade treats made by the staff.
