Join us at the Camp Open House & Reunion this Sunday, January 10th for an afternoon full of games, camp songs, friends, and more! For more than 80 years, the Summit Area YMCA has provided our community’s children with safe and exciting opportunities to explore, learn, create and discover the world around them. Our summer camps vary by age, location, interests and more. There is something for every child, youth and teen, whether it’s baking, cheerleading, sports, rollercoasters or one of the many other options we offer!
Samantha, whose son spent his summer at our Sports Camp as well as Camp Cannundus, says that “Jack absolutely loved camp. This was his first year and he was initially nervous, but the counselors were awesome and made him feel very comfortable. He still sings his camp songs and talks about it daily! He made lots of new friends and really enjoyed every moment. I plan to send him back next year!” Camp Cannundus offers arts and crafts, nature exploration, games, and swimming, while Sports Camp teaches sportsmanship, team play, rules and techniques for various sports. Our camps inspire children to carry out the Y core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility while also learning an appreciation for diversity. Campers become better leaders through leadership building programs like Leader’s in Training (LIT), Volunteer Service Camp, and even Babysitting Camp!
Our summer camps are the perfect place for children to learn, grow, and explore new things in a safe space. Our enthusiastic camp staff will serve as positive role models while providing your child with the best possible camp experience! Summit Area YMCA camps are accredited by the American Camping Association (ACA) and our staff goes through rigorous training in order to ensure the safety and well-being of every camper.
Nancy, a Summit Area YMCA member and camp parent says that ”[her] kids loved the positivity and enthusiasm of the camp counselors. It helped them settle physically and emotionally into their new environment, having recently moved from the west coast. [Her] daughter loved the color wars, and [her] son learned sportsmanship and the value of kindness in Sports camp. Summer camp at the Summit Area YMCA became their home away from home. They will be back next year!”
