UNION, NJ – Vauxhall Road was blocked by a downed tree for some time in the very late and very early hours on Tuesday and Wednesday from a one car accident.
According to officials, at 11:35 p.m. Tuesday a Subaru hit a tree on the side of Vauxhall Road, in the area of the Lincoln Technical Institute, uprooting the tree and causing it to come down across the roadway. The woman driving the vehicle was uninjured.
Union firefighters cut up a majority of the tree to allow for part of the roadway to open. Workers from the Department of Public Work’s Shade Tree Division arrived on the scene to remove the tree. Union police officers remained on scene for traffic control while the tree and car were removed, authorities said.
