MAPLEWOOD, NJ - There was a carjacking on Springfield Ave. at about 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, according to a release from Maplewood police.

A man parked his vehicle at Express Laundry World (1443 Springfield Ave.), and left the vehicle running, stated the release.

When he came back to the vehicle, he saw a man inside of the car, and was unable to open the car door despite trying to do so. The man in the vehicle then began pulling away, and "the victim jumped onto the vehicle as he was driving away," stated the release.

The victim fell off of the vehicle shortly after, in Irvington, and was transported to Rutgers University Hospital for treatment, according to the release.
