UNION, NJ – New officers were installed in Union High School’s Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) recently when the Fighting Farmer Battalion held their Change of Command/Transfer of Authority program.
Cadet Adnan Oudeh assumed command of the Union High School JROTC Battalion. The following command and staff positions were announced for the 2018-2019 school year:

Cadet Izabella Ksiazek, S4 (Logistics)
Cadet Isaiah Alviola, S5 (Public Affairs)
Outgoing Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Francisco Estrada IV relinquished his command and gave his farewell address. Family members of Oudeh, Randolph and Brett joined the new officers during their promotion ceremony.
The program concluded, “Commanders, take charge of your companies!”
Union High School’s JROTC unit has been ranked in the top ten percent out of 1,800 JROTC programs in the nation, achieving an Honor Unit with Distinction award.
The unit includes nationally recognized Drill and Raider Teams, who achieved second place among 1,800 schools this year. They have been named New Jersey Drill Champions 18 years in a row and have placed second in the Overall Drill Team Combined Categories nationally.
The Drill Team placed second overall in Northeast Drill and the Raiders were named Overall Champions two years in a row (2017 and 2018). Cadets placed third in the Raider National Championship in 2017 and second in the Overall Northeast group.
