WESTFIELD, NJ — The Friends of the Westfield Memorial Library recently donated $15,000 to the library, much of which came from April’s “wildly successful” book sale, the library announced this week.

David Machlowitz, retiring Friends co-president and 2016 book sale chair, said that the more than $18,000 raised at the annual spring book sale thanks to volunteers, donors and customers made this gift to the library possible, “as well as such as other popular Friends' activities as the free children's programs and free admission passes to over 20 area museums."

The Friends thanked "the more than 100 volunteers, from those in their teens or younger to those in their 80's or older, whose very hard work made the sale possible."

In addition, they thanked the Westfield Board of Education, First Baptist Church, Westfield Department of Public Works, Trader Joe's and ShopRite for their assistance with the sale.
