David John D’Addio, 55, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side on May 29. David was born on July 13, 1961, in Newark and lived in Irvington before moving to Union in 1968. He was a graduate of Union High School class of 1979, where he was an all-state football player and was recruited by the University of Maryland.
David played the position of full-back and was co-captain of the team in 1984. He was a fourth round draft pick by the Detroit Lions where he played for three years.
David was a personal trainer for over 20 years. He was predeceased by his mother, Joan, his brother, Joseph, and sister, Lisa-Marie. He leaves behind his loving dad, Valentino and his companion, Mary; his sister-in-law, Alberta; his niece and Goddaughter, Alyssa and her husband, Michael; his great-nephew, Joseph; his aunt Annie; Uncle Jimmy and his wife, Gloria; his Aunt Joanne, and many cousins and friends.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, June 1, at 12:30 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul R.C. Church, 250 Bebout Ave., Stirling, NJ. Interment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia, NJ.
