MAHWAH, NJ – The Union Dressbarn, in the Lowe’s Shopping Center between Morris Avenue and Route 22 East, along with the other 650 Dressbarn stores, will be closing. The women’s clothing store has been in operation for almost 60 years.
According to a press release on Monday from Dressbarn’s owner, Ascena Retail Group Inc., who also own Ann Taylor, Lane Bryant, Catherines and other retail stores, “the move is in line with the Company’s commitment to comprehensively assess and optimize its portfolio by focusing resources on its most profitable brands to position the business for long-term growth and enhance shareholder value.”
The decision does not impact the operations of any of Ascena’s other brands. There is also a Catherines store located in the Lowe's shopping center. There are no dates for Dressbarn’s wind down.
Meanwhile, construction has begun on the old Toys R Us store in the same shopping complex, set to become a Burlington Coat Factory.
