UNION, NJ – Union firefighters responded to a call of a house fire at just before 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at 1149 Magie Avenue.

According to Union Fire Captain Gourley, upon arrival heavy smoke was coming from the front door and windows.  Fire was seen in the bottom corner of the basement and coming from the basement windows.  Firefighters had to cut through a steel Bilco door leading to the basement to gain access.

"The interior of the home was under construction and the fire was difficult to contain due to construction debris," said Gourley.  No one was injured in the fire.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.
