UNION, NJ — The National Weather Service declared a flash flood warning for the area Friday at about 12:30 p.m., lasting until 4:30 p.m.

A flash flood warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.

Excessive runoff from Friday's heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses, as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots, according to the service.

The National Weather Services urges, “Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.”
