UNION, NJ – According to the National Weather Service, a Flash Flood Watch is in effect today for our area from noon through late tonight.

Numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop across the area ahead of a slow-moving cold front.  Multiple rounds of thunderstorms have the potential to move across the same area, leading to flash flooding.

Rainfall totals of 1 to 2 inches are expected, with locally higher amounts possible.

Flash flooding is possible in creeks and streams. Flooding and ponding may occur on roads and in low-lying areas, urban areas and places subject to frequent flooding. Localized road closures may occur. Visibility on roads may be hampered during heavy downpours. Gusty winds can result in downed trees and power lines causing localized power outages.
