UNION, NJ – Four more Union High School scholarship track and field athletes signed letters of intent last week -- one headed to Bloomfield College and three to Caldwell University.
“We’re always proud of all of our student athletes for achieving both their academic and athletic goals,” said UHS Athletic Director Linda Ionta.
Headed to Bloomfield College in the fall, Dominique Gaskins, who excels in the shot put and discus, said, “today is overwhelming. I’m super excited to go onto a new path in life. My hard work and dedication paid off and it will continue in college.”
Dorian Joseph, a distance runner, signed with Caldwell University. “I like distance running because you have to be mentally tough and it’s a new challenge all the time. Setting new personal records is fun.”
Paloma Castillo, also headed to Caldwell University, focused on the 400 meter hurdles in high school. “Caldwell University is a great school and I like the location. I was happy with the way they interacted with the students.”
Also attending Caldwell University in the fall is Jeffery Jean Pierre, an 800-meter runner. “I’m very proud of breaking my record of 1.59 down to 1.57 in the 800 meters. I couldn’t have done that without Coach Stewart. He pushed me to break that record.”
