In preparation of the beginning of the school year the Union County Immunization Clinic, located at 40 Parker Road, Elizabeth, will offer extended hours.
The clinic normally operates Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Appointments will be accepted until 6:30 p.m. from Monday, August 19 through Friday, August 30. Walk-ins are welcome until 6:00 p.m., however appointments are preferred.
“Vaccines are required for public school admission, and the extended hours will help parents and caregivers access this free service for eligible children,” said Freeholder Chair Bette Jane Kowalski. “The health and safety of children is a top priority for the Freeholder Board.”
Immunizations are available to eligible children who are at least 12 months old to 18 years old, through the federal Vaccines for Children program. Children who are uninsured or underinsured, or who receive Medicaid or N.J. Family Care are eligible for services.
The Immunization Center provides information about available health services to families in need, in addition to screenings and more than a dozen immunizations for eligible children.
A total of 1,936 children were vaccinated in 2018 at the Union County Immunization Center.
The following vaccinations are available at the Union County Immunization Center:
