UNION, NJ – Township schools will be on an early dismissal schedule on Friday due to anticipated extreme temperatures.

Temperatures within the schools on Thursday were extremely warm and some groups of students were moved from exceedingly warm classrooms to cooler spaces within some schools, according to a letter from Superintendent Gregory Tatum.

However, Tatum’s letter continues, “I am concerned that tomorrow is said to be even hotter than today,” and he issued an early dismissal for Friday.  “We will continue to monitor the daily forecast to be prepared for any extreme heat emergencies.”  An “all call” telephone message was sent to students’ homes regarding the early dismissal.

All evening events and activities (including athletic games and practices) are scheduled to be held as planned.
