BASKING RIDGE, NJ - Emma Wightman rallied Ridge from a halftime deficit and boosted the Red Devils' girls soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Union in the quarterfinal round of the Section 2, Group 4 state tournament on Thursday.
Union (13-6) scored early in the first half on a goal by Kayla Miller-People to take a 1-0 lead that held up through the rest of the half. Wightman scored two goals in fairly rapid succession early in the second half to give Ridge (16-4) a lead it would not relinquish.
Ridge outshot Union, 13-6. Ally Lindsey made five saves in the victory. Ridge had beaten Union, 2-0, in a regular-season meeting.
