SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Juliana Rama and Kate Hall came up with a clutch three-set comeback victory at first doubles to give the Union Catholic girls tennis team a 3-2 victory over Plainfield on Senior Day on Thursday at Kramer Manor Park.

With the match all squared at 2-2, Rama and Hall came from behind in the final set to defeat Kayla Jefferson and Nataly Zelaya, 7-5, 2-6, 6-3, to clinch the victory for the Vikings. Rama and Hall trailed 0-3 in the final set before winning six of the last seven games to earn the dramatic victory.

The victory was the second straight for UC, who avenged a 3-2 loss to Plainfield on Oct. 6 and evened its record at 3-3.

Union Catholic also picked up straight set victories from Annie Hartnett at second singles, and Reema Sharma and Kate Driscoll at second doubles.  

Before the match, UC honored its seniors, Elisabeth Pickel and Emily Scott, for their dedication and commitment to the program.
