UNION, NJ – A groundbreaking at the Greenleaf at Union development project at 1235 West Chestnut Street took place Thursday morning with Union Mayor Manuel Figueiredo, township officials and representatives from Sun Equity Partners and REDCOM Design and Construction LLC.

The 76,813 sq. ft. facility, located on the corner of West Chestnut Street and Route 22 West, will feature multiple retail storefronts in addition to an LA Fitness and Bob’s Discount Furniture Store.

“What an exciting day for the Township of Union,” said Union Mayor Figueiredo.  “This is bringing some great new stores to Union, beginning with LA Fitness and Bob’s Discount Furniture.  This is a wonderful facility that we look forward to having up and running by Memorial Day.”  The Mayor added that inquires have already been received from other prospective tenants.

“We started looking at this project a few years ago,” said Charles Manning of Sun Equity Partners.  “We appreciate the Township’s efforts.  Everyone has been wonderful to work with and we look forward to a continuing relationship throughout the construction and long afterwards.”
