UNION, NJ -  Groundbreaking for Summit Court, a new residential development site less than a mile from the Union Train Station, occurred on Wednesday afternoon.  The project includes the construction of 130 high-end rental units and 140 owner-occupied condominiums.   Nick Minoia of Summit Court said, “we are happy to acquire the site which was an old abandoned factory”.   Minoia said the first phase has begun, with the foundation of the 130 rental units. In the springtime, construction on the townhomes will begin.

Frank Sorrentino CEO of Connect One Bank, who is financing the development, said, “Connect One is happy to be part of this project that will bring construction jobs to New Jersey.”

Township Mayor Manuel Figueiredo said, “It is great to have a groundbreaking on a development that will bring quality rental and owner-occupied housing to the eastern part of the Township of Union.

The site is the previous location of the National Envelope factory.  Considerable environmental clean-up work has been completed to bring the site up to residential living standards.  The redevelopment will take 18 months to complete.
