UNION, NJ – A groundbreaking ceremony took place at the site of the upcoming Vauxhall Meeting Hall on Hilton Avenue Tuesday afternoon.

“We have been excited about this project since we began discussing it on the Township Committee,” said Committeeman Clifton People, Jr., “and now it’s come to fruition.”

Demolition of the old Vauxhall Library took place on May 16.  It was announced in January that this will be the site of a new meeting hall with a dedicated space for the Vauxhall Historical Society.

“This project is scheduled to take about 4-6 months,” said Henry Ossi of DMR, the company contracted to build the new Vauxhall meeting hall.  “The building will be about 1,600 sq. ft.  The architecture of the building will look something similar to a house to blend in with the neighborhood and surroundings.”
