NEW YORK, NY – The National Weather Service has placed Northeast New Jersey, along with Manhattan, under a high wind warning and flood watch Monday and Tuesday.

High wind warning is in effect from 1 a.m. Monday to 1 a.m. Tuesday, with winds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts from 60 to 70 mph. The National Weather Service predicts the strongest winds are expected Monday afternoon and evening.

These damaging winds have the capacity of blowing down trees and power lines. Numerous power outages are expected, and travel will be difficult, especially travel on elevated roadways and bridges.

A flood watch is in effect from Monday afternoon through late Monday night with heavy rain expected. Rainfall amounts of one to three inches with higher amounts close to four inches are expected along the coast. If the higher rainfall amounts occur, there will be moderate, urban, and minor small stream flooding.
