UNION, NJ - The Township Committee Meeting began with Proclamations for Ukrainian Independence Day – August 23 -Yuriy Symczyk and National Night Out Against Crime - August 4. The Township recognized Connect One Bank with a “Business of the Month” award.
Ordinance on second reading and final Amending Chapter 170-119 entitled Nonconforming structures and uses. On first reading and draft, there was Ordinance on Providing for a preliminary study in connection with the Springfield Avenue, Vauxhall Redevelopment. Also Providing funding for the 2016 Road Improvement Program and Bond Ordinance to allow for the appropriation of grants.
Under Resolutions, the Township Committee authorized an award of contract to Asphalt Paving Systems for the 2015 Microsurfacing Project of various roads, for an amount not to exceed $100,460.06. An authorization was awarded for the renewal of the Employee Health Insurance with the State Health Benefits Program at a premium of $14,500,000.
The League of Women Voters requested approval to sponsor a Township of Union ‘Candidates Night’ at the Municipal Building in October. A request was ratified from Frank M. Cerasa, Clark Fire Chief, for the use of the showmobile for their Wet-down on Saturday, August 15.
Mayor Figueiredo told everyone to try to stay cool for the next few days and reminded everyone to come out to the ‘Summer Concert Series’ on Thursday night.
