UNION, NJ -  The Board of Education voted at Tuesday night’s special meeting to appoint Jeff Monge to fill the unexpired term of Richard Galante.

Monge will serve until the end of the year.  Monge has filed a petition to run for a full three-year term instead of running for the unexpired term that he was appointed to tonight. Steven Le did file a petition to run for the unexpired term in the November election.  Le is running unopposed and will fill the seat that Monge was appointed to tonight in January 2016.

Monge said, “I am humble for the opportunity.  I am not a politician.  I’m here to serve the kids." Monge also said that "having a strong education system creates the foundation for a strong township of Union.”

Le said, "Now that the appointment process has concluded, I look forward to November's election, where we can focus more on improving our schools and paving a more secure future for our children."
