UNION, NJ – The Kean University Alumni Association is hosting a two-week long food drive, taking place from October 19 through October 30.  Non-perishable food items will be collected and donated to the town’s local food bank.

Organized by Stella Maher, Director of Alumni Relations, current Kean students, alumni and residents can drop off food donations at 1000 Morris Avenue, Alumni Office, located in Townsend Hall, Room 122, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.  “In Union County, almost 63,000 people are facing food insecurity, 12% children.  A small donation can ensure that the people of Union County know when their next meal will be.”

The event is sponsored by “Move for Hunger”, a non-profit organization that mobilizes the relocation industry to fight hunger and reduce food waste, working with companies across North America to collect unwanted, unopened food for people who are relocating and deliver it to local food banks.  To date, their network of relocation professionals has delivered over 5,000,000 pounds of food to local food banks across North America.

Main Street Movers, an agent of Bekin Van Lines, has generously offered to supply boxes and transportation of the donations upon the completion of the food drive.  All donations will be delivered to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey.
