UNION, NJ – Students at Livingston Elementary School learned about making connections recently when they wrote letters to family and friends about their goals for the year.
As part of the third grade curriculum for Language Arts/Social Studies, students in Mrs. Denner’s and Mrs. D’Agostino’s classes chose someone special in their lives to write a letter to about their goals and what they expect to experience in third grade.
Students received a surprise on Friday when the neighborhood mail carrier was on hand to personally pick up their mail. “The children were so excited to choose a loved one to write and mail a letter to,” said Denner. “They were able to understand the importance of community workers in their town.”
“I was so excited to write a letter my aunt,” said student Valerie Cespedes. “She’s someone very special to me.”
Student Gabe Cunha said, “finding a mail carrier on our walk to the mailbox was such as special surprise. We were able to hand deliver him our letters and thank him for his hard work.”
