SPRINGFIELD, NJ – Real estate agent Amanda Abdelsayed sells a lot of residential real estate in Union and surrounding areas. So much real estate, in fact, that she won a contest among rookie agents at Signature Realty in Springfield. The contest grand prize was $10,000.
Abdelsayed, 29, sold almost $3 million in 2016 through June. Her accomplishment is all the more impressive because while the contest ran from January through June, Abdelsayed joined the agency in February, and had only had five months to generate sales.
What’s most impressive of all, however, is that Abdelsayed is donating her $10,000 prize to help provide housing, food, clothing and education to people in Guatemala.
“There is nothing more rewarding than the act of serving others and making an impact in someone’s life,” said Abdelsayed. She said the money will help build sturdy, waterproof concrete-block homes for families who live in communities surrounding garbage dumps in the country’s capital, Guatemala City.
Abdelsayed headed to Guatemala on Saturday for a week to donate her time to meet two children she is sponsoring and to work alongside other volunteers to build homes for area families. Her donation will be put to work by the Beyond the Walls charity, started in 2005 by Mendham Hills Community Church. “Amanda’s generosity reflects her faith in God and her desire to help make a difference in people’s lives,” said church pastor John Iseman. “Her donation will certainly improve the lives of the families she is sponsoring.”
Real estate has been Abdelsayed’s passion since she bought her first condo at age 19. “I worked full time at a restaurant, went to college and paid my mortgage,” she said about that time of her life. She encourages young people to do what they’re passionate about.
Abdelsayed changed careers from advertising to real estate when she joined Signature Realty in February under the mentorship of Signature’s owner Michelle Pais. “Don’t worry about the money,” she said. “Each of us has special gifts and talents. Dream big, have faith and follow what you love.”
