UNION, NJ – A man on a battery powered scooter was struck by a car early Friday morning on Colonial Avenue near the intersection of Morris Ave.
Police were called to the scene at approximately 5:45 a.m. Upon arrival they found a male in his twenties, who was operating a battery powered scooter on Morris Ave. eastbound near the shoulder, had been hit by a female driving a 2009 Honda Civic, who made a left turn from Morris Ave. westbound onto Colonial Ave.
According to police, the pedal cyclist sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital by emergency medical personnel. The cyclist was treated at the hospital and is listed in stable condition. The driver of the Honda was also transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Colonial Ave. was detoured for approximately two hours during the investigation. The investigation is being conducted by Officer Michael Cocca of the Union Police Department and is ongoing pending further information and witness statements.
