UNION, NJ – A Maplewood man found dead in the yard of a Union Township residence early Tuesday was murdered, local authorities said in a press release.
The Union County Prosecutor’s Office has identified the victim of the homicide as 25-year-old Matthew Murrell of Maplewood.
According to the press release, police responded to a home on the 800 block of Salem Road shortly before 5 a.m. Tuesday to find the body of Murrell in the yard. He was pronounced dead a short while later.
A joint investigation involving the Union County Homicide Task Force, the Union Police Department and the Union County Sheriff’s Office Identification Unit remains ongoing.
